Neude Advertising

Some of you may question why I chose a theme with ads, or why I decided to place ads at all. Mostly, it’s an experiment. Neude itself was started as an experiment of sorts in SEO and running a web presence. So far, I’d say it’s been a… well, fun experiment at least.

So what have I learned so far?

Well, for one no one clicks on ads. I kind of knew that one already though. I’ve actually always wondered who the people are that drive all of Google’s ad business. I mean, I rarely RARELY click on an ad link and when I do it’s generally one of those sponsored search links where I just sadistically enjoy the idea of making someone pay for my traffic even when I can see their non sponsored link on the same page.

Let me break down some statistics for you.

To date, there have been nearly 1700 ad impressions on neude. There has been 1 click. (Honestly, it was me, when I was testing to see if these things were even working at all.) I have made $0.00.

Now, I don’t say that as if it is a big shock. I just find it interesting is all. I had no delusions of retiring by 26 or anything off of this blog. Actually my main point in even writing this was to find out how neat people think some of these ads are. Maybe most of you don’t even pay attention to them, but as one of the authors in this content driven advertising I find it really amusing to see what pops up.

It seems to take the system a little while to parse through and get relevant ads, but when it does they can be pretty neat in their relevancy. Today I visited the front page and was greeted by ad ad from none other than our very own Neumont University. Amazing.

Anyways, any opinions on the ads so far? You should have seen the original theme this is based on, it had about 4x the number of ads. Any ads that have caught your eye?
